The mind, as part of Prakrti, and under the influence of the Gunas, is the one that suffers. The Soul does not. 

The ever flowing relationship of purusha and prakrti which will be there as long as there is a Soul incarnated will usually be balanced in favor of the mind and our emotions. That is how the mind keeps us grounded.  But does it have to be that way?  This is hard to understand, specially when we are at the receiving end of slander and insult, but even harder to understand is the concept that there is a purpose for all that.

To base a reference on how to respond or deal with resentment is to admit that we have surrendered to the tamasic effects of the mind.  If we move in the direction of the Neutral Mind, we will not have to deal with resentment or insult.  We need to understand that we are not to follow the mind. Then the question is not how to deal with the resentment but how to come to a state of mind where resentment does not develop. Then, slander and insult will have no effect on us.  This is not easy but is doable. One way is to work towards developing, or better yet, expressing more fully the Objective Mind with full awareness of our feelings and emotions (Negative Mind at work).

You see, when we read and study the lives of the Gurus and Saints, and all great leaders in humanity, we become aware of the "other cheek" effect.  This is a profound teaching that only shows us that we can live right on the middle of the path through a Neutral Mind.

But how do we work towards that?  Daily Jap Ji Sahib, chant it in Gurmuki, then throughout the day, read and contemplate its meaning in your language, English, Spanish, etc. Carry with you a copy of the Sacred Nitnem and contemplate on different passages throughout the day, on every opportunity you may have. Morning Sadhana Mantras, specially Rakhe Rakan Har which plows away all obstacles so you can meet your destiny.  Chant these Mantras in your heart.  And third, study the lives of the Gurus.  Finally, do Kriyas that work on the Neutral Mind. 

Allow your Soul to vector your life.

Wise words, Harjit (and Akkama) and an excellent outlook and
perspective to work with or cultivate. Oftentimes, we experience these
adverse situation within the body, depending on our nature, state of
being on any particular day or level of development. With the yogic
path, generally speaking, we work on the problems of the body, first,
and then work on the problems of the mind (reflection and meditation).
Each of us will react, and be challenged, in different ways to the same
provocation. I find, for myself, that doing Archer Pose (and then
whatever, after resting in Baby Pose) can create an alchemical change
with any pressure coming in from the outside (de-pressing on our being).
Additionally, and of late, I find the set for "Mental and Physical
Vitality" works through the gross blockages of the 1st through 3rd
chakras. It's a little work but you will emerge from the funk and the
cycle of pain quite well and into a potent Neutrality. When we're in the
heart, there is no "for, or against". We are in Neutral Mind also called
Yogic Mind, and from this place one can consider kissing another's feet,
or thanking them for the pain they have created for without it there may
not have been any new fruit born.

The whole system is KRI certified. No issue in that area whatsover.
Something of interest.....Yogiji never actually taught a class on
Tantric numerology (Akar Jantri), in all his years, so there will always
be some debate as to what he said, or meant.
It's only power hungry idiots who would challenge blindly the
introduction of new notes by those who had private sessions with him.
One need only to add a disclamer or a footnote to any material that is
in question.

Always tune in to the Golden Chain. Ask for subtle guidance to what
feels 'right' if in need.

be punished?
Do you plan an appointment with your dentist to extract the offending teeth?

If you truly believe your identity is TRUTH - SATNAAM,
and that also the real identity of the other person is also TRUTH- SATNAAM.

Then they are the teeth and we are the tongue of SATNAAM. SATNAAM is doing
it all to HIMSELF, all we have to do is accept his HUKAM - "THY WILL BE DONE

[Kundalini Yoga] Uterine Fibroids

I would like to ask advice from women who have or had uterine fibroids, with No bleeding symptoms.
My biggest fibroid is 5cm intramural/subserous.
I am looking for healing alternatives to avoid surgery.

I am a Kundalini yoga teacher with two small children and have just given up caffeine - I have found this amazing replacement drink to caffeine - organic chicory - it tastes just the same if not better than coffee.  It also has many health benefits such as iron, vitamins and minerals, it cleanses the liver.  I thought it was going to taste nasty and nothing like coffee but I was amazed at how like it but nicer it is.  It is almost like it tricks your body to believe you have just had a coffee! without the highs and lows and messing up your blood sugar.

As I said, all my children are in school now, this year and I have still face hurdles in time management with my spiritual practice- I agree heartily with everything the other posters have said...this is good information. I can tell you- 4 cups of coffee in the morning is going to rob you of energy and patience and gentleness with yourself.
You have stated a lot of intentions- that is good. I suggest you do not focus on your limitations at all. When i find myself taking it all so seriously- I have a image in my head and when i get to that place I pop it up and laugh and break myself out of that frustration when i begin practice and then it gets thrown to the dogs with a crying or fighting child- picture a cartoon, (like the Far Side)- picture a woman drawn in downward dog- and in one room you see kids tearing up the living room and screaming "MOMMY!" in the other picture the mom in downward dog looks tired, frazzled and frantic in the eyes screaming "MOMMY IS DOING YOGA!!!!!!" it makes me laugh at myself at the irony of what i am trying to achieve and the result i usually get-
thats how it is right? the worst thing we can do is fight against ourselves and our natural state. being a mom and finding balance in just the little ways IS your spiritual work. you cant feel like a victim to your process, you do need to get a dvd- a tape- a book- set a few poses, and get up in the morning or even fit it in at naptime- do it when everybody is in bed- but commit to being gentle and not getting caught up in striving so hard to work against yourself. set little space up- mine is silly! i have one corner on my dresser- but if i can plop down for 5 min- i do- if it isnt consistent- i get what i can by cooking, picking dandelions- laughing with my kids- massaging my infant- this is the work you are in right now and there is time that will free up and energy that will free up..get some balance and commit to NOURISHING yourself as a practice. not beating yourself up- but eat good foods, drink enough water- cut down your coffee to 2 cups for
now- and get into herbal tea like Tulsi is my favorite balancer.
Be gentle- be present- and be where you are now- this is the most deep practice you have chosen for your life. I wish you so much peace in those moments- work with yourself and laugh- i do set time aside for myself, and it is important to keep this - yet it comes in pieces, and some of that is in giving over your ego to where you are now, and isnt that the ultimate practice you can imagine?

Whoops, the last sentence went missing. I think meant to say something like,
"Yes, we do, look at Guru Rattana as prime example number one, she has devoted her life to spreading KY instead of all the other things she could have done. This would be impossible in most countries, to actually have more than one option or be able to follow your heart to do something as magnificently "impractical" as becoming a spiritual inspiration and teacher.

Denise, this will certainly be the beginning a long discussion, thank you for bringing it up! Your conundrum sounds like a negative mind/positive mind/neutral mind dilemma to me. As such, there are KY meditations and kriyas to strengthen and balance the three.

I regret to hear such a negative attitude about our country, although it is surprisingly common amongst new-agers. (I fully expect a lot of very negative replies for daring to say this.) These scientific advances applied to warfare are an unfortunate aspect of man's nature, but our defense is a very compelling need! The only reason you have the luxury of bad feelings about us is that we have prevailed against tyrannical regimes, up until now. Hitler was only a piker responsible for about 45 million deaths compared to Stalin at about 100 million deaths of his own people. And we're bad??? Not perfect, still evolving, hopefully, but humanity's best chance for freedom and evolution. We were even close to a true meritocracy until this recent financial turmoil.

In this beautiful land, we are free to wear a white turban, or not, and that today specifically means free from bhurkas, stoning for looking at a man, and the rest of the shariah package. That is the nature of our current threat, move forward or go back to the dark ages of the 7th century where you must go into hiding if you draw a cartoon somebody doesn't like. Does anybody here want to wave a white flag?

It's your life, and if you absolutely don't want to apply yourself to anything that could be weapons related, so be it! A wonderful characteristic of our free, open society is mobility and the opportunity to create your own life. Yes, we do, look at Guru Rattana as prime example number one, she has devoted her life to spreading KY instead of all the other things she could have done, that would have been impossible .

Hi Kelli,

As a mother of three, I have the same problems, and feelings that you do about
being interrupted, Also there is no opportunity for a group close by, nor time
even if there was. It can be frustrating to juggle it all and is quite a merit
on your part with two little ones. Keep it up! Motherhood has so many rewards
that it is well worth it.

If it is of any help, I have found that getting up earlier than everyone else
gives me the space I needed, since the rest of the family is still asleep.
Although it is a challenge at first if you are not a morning person, which I was
not. Doing this has allowed me more time for regular practice at least a couple
of times a week. I try and do at least the half an hour set in the morning to
wake up (It is on a Detox & destress video by Maya Finesse. I think you have
mentioned in the past you have this one. ) before having breakfast. Now, I
actually can do the routine on my own, without the video (if early morning noise
is a problem at home). It is amazing how just that little bit does so much.
Also, you might feel less frustrated if you begin the day with this practice,
because you have already gotten what you were looking foward to all day, then
you can always squeeze in more in the afternoon if time permits. For instance,
sometimes I meditate mid-day for 10 min. (locked in the bathroom at work is the
only option!!) which makes me feel much better when things are very stressful.
Not as nice as doing a full session, but every little bit makes me feel like I
am looking after myself and helps me to connect.

I would like to do more, but know that at the moment my responsabiliites limit
my commitment to KY. Yet I know in my heart, a time will come when I have more
space for me. It is just a matter of time.

Sat nam,
I came across this msg and would like to suggest to the poster that coffee is
really bad for the adrenals.
The more coffee the weaker the adrenals.
I stopped drinking coffee after I had an event with my blood sugar and adrenals
in which I almost passed out.
I substituted yogi tea, and yerba mate, both of which will stimulate without
caffeine.
After about 6 months, I now drink a very little (1/2 cup) of very weak coffee
only after a full meal.

Also a very good book that will help to understand hormones and adrenals is:
"Feeling Fat, Fuzzy or Frazzled?: A 3-Step Program to: Beat Hormone Havoc,
Restore Thyroid, Adrenal, and Reproductive Balance, and Feel Better Fast!" by
Karilee and Richard Shames

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: the limitations of science

Hi dear Denise and others,

the problem is that scientific researches are mainly financed through the army.
Scientists imagine ways to enhance human life, then to pay their research they need money so they have to find a military use of their nice ideas to be abble to work further. Sometimes a few things come out good for the humanity too but it is just luck.

As usual the problem is profit. It looks easier to make money with wars than by healing people. A wrong calculation into my eyes and surely shared by many of us in this group.

A good way to change that is education, especially spiritual education. Teach our kids to consume less and need less material things. To feel happyness inside and not through material posessions.
Organize Yoga lessons in schools to expand spirituality to all social and educational groups of the population...
That's were personal engagement really can help.

[Kundalini Yoga] ? warm-up before adrenal set?

[Kundalini Yoga] Adrenals and caffein [was--Re: Interuptions and Health

I came across this msg and would like to suggest to the poster that coffee is really bad for the adrenals.
The more coffee the weaker the adrenals.
I stopped drinking coffee after I had an event with my blood sugar and adrenals in which I almost passed out.
I substituted yogi tea, and yerba mate, both of which will stimulate without caffeine.
After about 6 months, I now drink a very little (1/2 cup) of very weak coffee only after a full meal.

Also a very good book that will help to understand hormones and adrenals is: "Feeling Fat, Fuzzy or Frazzled?: A 3-Step Program to: Beat Hormone Havoc, Restore Thyroid, Adrenal, and Reproductive Balance, and Feel Better Fast!" by Karilee and Richard Shames
