I have practiced hatha yoga from the time I was fourteen years old. I've fallen away from grace since that time, and life has a way of doing that to people. Of course, back when I started practicing yoga back in the late 60's, there wasn't a lot of support or yoga in the U.S. at that time. It was just coming into view. I practiced the asanas, the dristis and so forth. I now practice again, on my own with no real traditional instructors in my part of the country. I grew up in San Francisco, California and have resided in Omaha, Nebraska for the last twenty years. There are a couple of yoga schools, but they are Americanized.

I have many yoga fitness workouts, none are traditional all though I do get a good workout. I've started studying on line with a Anmol Metha who has seems to have an excellent program with a certificate. Since I've been familiar with yoga for almost fortyfour years, I've got a head start on it. I'm interested in learning more about the breath of fire because I didn't know that you can use the breath of fire while doing yoga postures. I last learned only how to do it while in a sitting position. I'm also familiar with both Hinduism and Jainism that incorporate yoga into their practice.

In the future, I plan to take some Purnam Yoga classes at an Jain ashram in Windom, Texas. I found it to be more effective than just doing the eight limbs taught by the Sanatana Dharma ashram my husband and I have been attending for over a year now because it's where we live. As you can see, I have an infatuation with the Indian people and it's culture : ) I also find Yoga attractive because of it's non-demoninational approach that he has to God. I hope to be a good student. I suffer from ADHD and adrenal issues. So my mind sometimes looses focus and this is the most important of issues that I want to work on. [Kundalini Yoga] Sat Kriya the Kriya

Sat Nam, Hi, I started Sat Kriya The KriyaI am doing the full time,( The one with Sat Kriya and frogs)3 weeks ago as my new 40 day. It is all I am doing in the morning along with the "Hari Ram Das Guru Hai" meditation and Sat Siri Siri Akal. I am wondering if I will loose my Kundalini shape and fitness by only doing this Kriya. Will Sat Kriya keep my core and all the other parts of my system strong or should i be doing another kriya on top of this one? I teach 7 Children's yoga classes a week as well. I am more worried about the breath as I usually do powerful breathing and stretch pose and all the other challenging postures when I am not commited to a 40 day. Thanks Raj Kirin Kaur

Change your sitting posture. How about a meditation bench. Generally I
have found the best things for knees is to stop annoying them.
Glucosamin Chondroitin and MSM are good for joints.

And flax seed oil gels, 2-4/day

Most herbal formulas don't seem to agree with me(usually retain water or have a snuffy, itchy nose), but I felt better every day I took these. My digestion is better, too. So anyone who wonders about all the antibiotics they've taken in their life, well, give this a try.

[Kundalini Yoga] Meditation as Food?

Meditating is a sort of eating, a consumption of subtle energies which
are digested by the mind's subtle digestive fire. Meditation is a
critical element of all daily programs because it satisfies the mind's
hunger. Insufficient or impropermeditation keeps the mind hungry, and
makes it turn outward through its sense organs to seek satisfaction from
sense objects, including especially physical food. Use of food to
satisfy the mind alone without consideration for the body always leads
to disease. Good meditation nourishes the organism so thoroughly that
the body can maintain itself on less food. Control of desire, which is
mental hunger, is the key to longevity and immortality. Anything can be
a meditation, as long as it is sincere and heartfelt.

Hello
I used to do Breathwalk (and thank you for bringing it back to my
consciousness).

Fairly simple: I never read the book, but was instructed by the book's author -
Walking. Let's start with the left foot -altho you could start with the right.
As you place the left foot down inhale, silently say SAT, right foot- TA,
left-NA, right - MA. Each of these 4 beats is an inhale. Then exhale in 4 beats,
also corresponding with left foot - right foot- left -right, exhale and say
aloud in 4 beats wa-he-gu-ru.

Do this for 5 minutes, then just walk for 3 min or so, then repeat 5 minutes of
chanting, until you have done four 5-min sessions.
This is the way it was told to me.

When I used to do it, sometimes I would go over 5 minutes and do it for 10
minutes.

I found it very relaxing, and now that you have brought it up, I've got to
remember to do it again.

[Kundalini Yoga] KY taught in a swimming pool?

Has anyone ever tried to teach KY in a swimming pool? I was asked if I was interested in teaching folks yoga at a YWCA, probably older ladies, in their swimming pool.

Besides what I already sent - if you can't sleep, the practice was too
stimulating. This is common and does not indicate that you have a
problem. Try left nostril breathing to calm you down so you can sleep.

The others suggestions are good. I want to add Kirtan Kriya -SATANAMA
meditation after the recommended set. This is THE meditation to reclaim
your aura after a separation. The pain comes from having your aura in
two places - him and you. 31 minutes once or even 2 times a day in the
beginning will help a lot.
