[Kundalini Yoga] question about friend's heart palpitations

He has occasional heart palpitations that come on suddenly - he feels really light-headed and like he's about to faint and loses consciousness in/out. His breathing is normal. His mouth is dry. Over the last 3 years, it's gotten worse and worse. He says it feels like his heart stops and then continues with weird palpitations like his heart is going to stop permanantly.

He's been to 2 cardiologists, and they've ruled out a stroke and brain aneurysm, as well as any signs of arterial clogging. He's had a stress test, halter monitor, EKG, ultrasound and heart card monitor.

He does not smoke, do drugs (prescription or recreational). He does drink alcohol occasionally. He is one of the cleanest eaters I know - very little sugar, mostly raw foods, high quality supplements.

My husband just started a new job in another city
and is in training. It is very intensive and he
only comes home for about 1-2 days per week.

I try my best to live by "Sat Nam", the Truth,
so it is hard to keep this from him.

But I hate to stress him out even more also.

Estrogen is administered to males that want female features to accentuate, or women in menopause to gain balance during their

Hormonal change.

Progesterone is a hormone produced during pregnancy.

I find this comment irrelevant.

I have not been active on this list for a number of years, but I just wanted to search for some meditation information and thought this list would be the best place -- and lo and behold, I ran across these posts about me :) Thanks for still remembering me! Wahe Guru!

I would like to report the good news -- STILL NO MIGRAINES after doing this treatment. Even if it does not work for you the first time like it did for me, do not give up, keep repeating it until you are cured. IT WORKS!

[Kundalini Yoga] Thoughts on

I am coming to you wonderful people for advice.
My husband just started a new job in another city
and is in training. It is very intensive and he
only comes home for about 1-2 days per week.
I just found out I am pregnant though we thought
we were done with our family.

I don't know if I should tell my husband or wait
until he is through training in a few weeks.
I try my best to live by "Sat Nam", the Truth,
so it is hard to keep this from him.

But I hate to stress him out even more also.

Thanks for the answer... I'm doing a Vipassana Meditation in which I must remain totally still, without any body moviment, for at least one hour and I have noticed that when I do some intense Kundalini Yoga Kriya before the meditation my body remains much more stable without too much discomfort, shaking and pain and its not just by a muscular relaxation or breath control.

Is this feeling related to this nervous strenghtening that we are talking about and it happens because this myelin reconstruction?

I'm asking this because I can feel a similar sensation with some Kundalini Yoga practices like Sat Kriya or Ego Erradicator in which after some practice the body is more integrated in a one whole field of energy instead of a perception of different parts. This perception of the body as a whole energy field, strong and integrated, may make the exercise is done with less effort and greater awareness.

Hi Keith,
I had bad eczema some years ago. I went to two western-medicine-oriented drs and they both told me, "You'll never get rid of that"
Imagine!
I then went to a health food store and was adviced to take several things which ultimately cleared it up, and I've never had it back.

All I remember is fish oil. But I will see if I can find the book that the treatment came from and let you know.

I personally do not know the answer to this question. And I assume with
any condition there is a lot more going on than one physical
explanation. And then in reality the only really important thing is what
you do that makes a difference. And that is found out by
experimentation. Have you practiced long deep breathing for at least 11

[Kundalini Yoga] Inguinal hernia

One of my students told me that he suffers from a little inguinal hernia
and his doctor suggested him to have a surgery.

He asked me if there can be something able to help him (from an
olistic-yogic point of view) to avoid the surgery...but I've no idea, so

[Kundalini Yoga] Nervous System - Strengthening

Luciano, Yes, this is a forum to asking questions and share with other
teachers.

I 'just happened' to read something that may help answer your question
"What does it mean to strengthen the nervous system?"

Under stress, the adrenal glands produce cortisol, which attacks the
myelin sheath that protects or encircles our nerve fibers, i.e. 'weaken'
the nerves. Shaking is perhaps related to compromised myelin sheath
around the nerves.

Reducing stress and allowing the body to be in a state of relaxation and
harmony helps rebuild the myelin sheath around the nerves, i.e.
'strengthen' the nerves. Less shaking.

Nerve cells that have lost their myelin sheath are unable to transmit
signals. When there is no transmission, there is no awareness. We need
strong nerves, i.e. with myelin sheath to hold higher frequencies, i.e.
be in a meditative state.

I used to have rosacea.  I visited a naturopathic physician who told me it was due to poor digestion and liver congestion.  I increased my agni (digestive fire), eliminated dairy and some other foods, and took probiotics.  My face cleared up!  Curcumin and neem are helpful, too.

[Kundalini Yoga] Help for Rosacea

Hello.

My wife has had rosacea for a number of years now. She has tried many different therapies both allopathic and natural.

One of her more successful attempts to clear this up included a strict diet that eliminated processed sugar and wheat. It also severely limited other types of sugars, including fruits with high sugar content like bannanas and oranges, as well as most grains (excepting Quinoa)

As you can imagine, this is a hard diet to keep up: No sugars, no grains.

Are there any kriyas or dietary restrictions/supplements that may be helpful to eliminate or alleviate Rosacea?

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Pranayam for Vertigo

Sorry I don't know of a quick fix.

Mountain Pose (standing on one leg) was good for me but only as part of the holistic yoga process.


When I went through a long very highly stressed period of life I developed vertigo which shocked me as I had been sure footed and fearless. As I de-stressed first using the Alexander Technique (AT) then Kundalini Yoga my vertigo got less and less.


My theory
In AT they teach that as we stress up over a life time we develop 'faulty kinesthesia' ie. our mind/bodies sense of position and movement goes out of adjustment.
So my theory was that the balance mechanisms in my ears and the system that uses my eyes were giving conflicting messages. As it happens slowly the mind habituates to the difference. But when looking up at say a tall building or down from a cliff the unusual angles and distances mean the habituation doesn't cover it and the mind gets confused and dizzy. When up a cliff if we realise we can't trust our balance we feel afraid. AT also teaches that in a stressed person our fear reflexes are over-active and fire too strongly - putting the two things together made sense of where this irrational panic came from.


I have no idea how valid this theory is and haven't found anyone yet who agrees with me. However I have so little vertigo it's back to where I was 20 years ago - but not back to nearly non-existent as when I was a crag hopping youngster.

This was a gradual reduction over some years of daily practice. Maybe there's a mmagic kriya?

I know from experience, (although is case is unique) that breath of fire can aggravate vertigo ( if already dizzy/having vertigo).
A very simple slow, deep breathing, or breath awareness as in the KRI teaching manual,
keeping the head centered and still (not fwd bends up and down quick)
and slow calming restful postures can help over time.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is recognised as being very effective for helping with eczema [ even amongst allopathic doctors ]. Dairy products are also said to aggravate it [ as they may do with other skin conditions ].

As I understand it, there are different kinds of eczema so it makes sense to get it identified by a recommended professional.

And if we remember that we are mind, body and spirit, we can explore any "condition" from each of these perspectives as they are related.

I have great empathy with anyone experiencing a skin condition. I suffered for years and have been "treated" with a range of approaches.

When I saw an acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist who is also a KY teacher, he said the underlying causes related energetically to my father and my liver, alongside heat - how my body was, or more to the point wasn't, releasing it. Acupuncture really helped with this because the needles drew the heat out.

Another area I explored was my own sensitivity and how easily I'm affected by different environments, as well as being shy since a small child, not allowing myself to fully participate, be present or be seen. This can manifest itself very physically through the skin.

We are also in a time where people will experience increased senstivity due to so many toxic things we are constantly exposed to.

A mixture of pranayam, meditation, nutrition, acupuncture, herbs and a very simple skin routine all seemed to help to different degrees.

Mostly though, and this is the spiritual component coming in, I truly believe what has made the most significant change has been becoming more my self, with surrendering and acceptance being key factors. And the other things contributed what they did along the way.

I don't know if this is at all useful as it's personal to me and probably doesn't answer your question! I just felt inspired to share that there are so many dimensions to our being and really we don't always know why something is like it is. But ultimately, becoming more of our self, which is innocent and pure, can bring deep and extra-ordinary changes. And while we are engaging in a powerfully cleansing practice like KY to support becoming more of our God-soul-self, we are also clearing the historical karmas which carry the scars that they do.

Hello Keith

I agree with Devsaroop, its liver related. While Milk Thistle is a good source, you might try a couple more powerful cleansers. Alfalfa in chlorophyll liquid (e.g. as Chlorofresh by Nature's Way) might work nicely. Alfalfa has incredibly deep roots that go over 100 feet into the ground and the soil there is still mineral rich. Dandelion is also a great liver cleaner. This plant too, I would take as a liquid and/or Homeopathic remedy. Staying off toxic substances like Alcohol, etc. is obviously advised. Chocolate can be another culprit.
