[Kundalini Yoga] "Ubuntu" means "I am what I am because of who we all are"

In 2006 at the Festival of Peace, in Florianopolis, South Brazil, the
journalist and philosopher Lia Diskin related a beautiful story of a
tribe in Africa she called Ubuntu.

She explained how an anthropologist had been studying the habits and
customs of that tribe, and when he finished his work, had to wait for
some time for transportation that would take him to the airport back
home. He'd always been surrounded by children of the tribe, so to help
pass the time before he left, he proposed a game for the children, which
he thought was harmless.

He bought lots of candy and sweets in the city, and put everything in a
basket with a beautiful ribbon. He placed it under a solitary tree, and
then called the kids together. He drew a line on the ground and
explained that they should wait behind the line for his signal. And that
when he said "Go", they should rush over to the basket, and the first to
arrive there would win all the candies.

When he said "Go!", instantly all the children held each other's hands
and ran off towards the tree as a group. Once there, they simply shared
the candy with each other and happily ate it.

The anthropologist was very surprised and asked them why they had all
gone together, especially if the first one to arrive could have won
everything in the basket - all the sweets.

They simply responded: "That's Ubuntu. How could one of us be happy if
all the others were sad?"

He was dumbfounded! For months and months he'd been studying the tribe,
and yet he'd not really understood their essence, otherwise he would
never have suggested the competition...

Ubuntu means "I am what I am because of who we all are."

I would like to ask the group if they know of a set that is good for
hormonal inbalance, or tyroid inbalance.

I have struggle for years with this and doctors have not helped, I have try
some alternative doctors but I continue with this problem.

It has not been clearly defined as tyroid inbalance but I have all the
symptoms of hoshimoto, also had hormonal inbalanceces, and adrenal fatigue.

So, if anybody can recommend an alternative, it may be a kundalini set,
herbals, supplements, etc.... I would greatly appreciate it.

[Kundalini Yoga] prosperity meditation with "har"

HHH to you! I am practicing a 47-day sadhana of the prosperity meditation (day 35 today!). I've used this meditation for years with great results ($$$!!!), and have completed a forty day before. But this time, I just found some different instructions than I'm used to:

...shows the thumbs crossing while palms are down, and an upward facing angle of the arms. This is new to me, before I was taught the forearms are parallel to ground, and no mention of the crossing of thumbs.

Do any of you long-time Kundalini yogis know the story on this change? In my 2001 Aquarian Teacher's manual it instructs the former way I mentioned, so it has been changed since then. I'd love to know more about the clarification of mudra & posture.

[Kundalini Yoga] Hormonal Inbalance Set?????

Hi,

I would like to ask the group if they know of a set that is good for hormonal inbalance, or tyroid inbalance.

I have struggle for years with this and doctors have not helped, I have try some alternative doctors but I continue with this problem.

It has not been clearly defined as tyroid inbalance but I have all the symptoms of hoshimoto, also had hormonal inbalanceces, and adrenal fatigue.

So, if anybody can recommend an alternative, it may be a kundalini set, herbals, supplements, etc.... I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi everyone,I started doing some yoga nidra at bedtime,it's supposed to be very good for regulating an equal amount of prana through the ida and pingala channels,giving a foundation for oneself before kundalini is awakened,what's signs will happen when your correct channels are open,or how will one know there open?

Sat Nam!

As I explain in the Inner Art of Love, Yogi Bhajan taught us to start
with the navel and the lower chakras. We create a base in the body so
that we have a foundation for holding higher frequency energies as our
Kundalini awakens. But at the same time, when we do the rootlock, we
focus at the third eye and allow the energy to move up the spine. All
Yogi Bhajan's sets involve the whole body and all the chakras, even if
there is a focus in one area.

<Thank you so much for your replies Guru Rattana and Paul. Your detailed
reply is a great help Guru Rattana. It's just that I was advised to
concentrate on my root chakra until is has opened and only then should I
progress to the next chakra

* the problem with this advise is that it doesn't work. It is like
saying concentrate on your liver until it is clean. But the whole
digestive system works together. And the idea that the chakras open in a
linear fashion is not accurate. It is not a one, two three, four
process. Its comprehensive.

* Chakras don't just open and then you are done with that one. They all
evolve into higher states and they are supportive of each other. It is
an on-going process for all our chakras.

* You can focus on one chakra for a while and work on cultivating for

It's just that I was advised to concentrate on my root chakra until is has opened and only then should I progress to the next chakra. I was told I should do this rather than switch back and forth through all the chakras. I understand what you are saying about monitoring our progress, Guru Rattana, and I will do that in the way you suggest.

Do you think I should concentrate on one chakra at a time and only progress to the next chakra when I have opened each one?

yes the maya feinnes dvds,there's a set of moves for each chakra,I do one chakra a day,I wouldn't recommend concintrating on one chakra only,everyone's chakras are open even a little bit,when you do chakra meditation balancing and kundalini yoga it opens them a bit more each time.

When I started off a year ago meditating I only concintrated on my 3rd eye and crown,I had some people cleansing my chakras and doing some energy work on me and they immediately told me my 3rd eye and crown are much bigger than my root which is not good,one should try to keep them the same size when making them bigger,there's phenomenon that happens when you open your 3rd eye,which I have experienced,but I didnt feel anything yet for the rest of the chakras and I didn't get any sensation of kundalini rising yet but still very early days

Try alternate leg presses, so if you are sitting upright in a chair, apply pressure to the heel of the foot as if you are trying to lift or stand up on one leg. It works for me. I discovered it whilst driving my farm tractor.

Thank you Betty and Maria for your warm welcome. I live in Ireland and am new to Kundalini yoga, having practiced reguarly for about three months now, which I really enjoy.


I read your message Paul and see you have been following the Maya Fiennes DVDs. I am also using her DVDs as there are no suitable classes anywhere near where I live, and I think she is a great teacher. However, for three months I have been working on my root chakra and have not experienced any opening or clearing of that chakra that I know of. I understand that it's not something to be rushed or forced but I don't know what I am supposed to sense when a chakra has been cleared. Could it be that I might carry on for years on that chakra not realising it's cleared, if it does clear, when I could be progressing to the next chakras? I would be so grateful for any advise on this matter as I have been told that I will know when it happens but I keep reading other people's reports on their chakras opening with no problems. I know it's not a race but I would like to make sure that I doing the right thing.

followed this type of meditation to your site. I am very interested in yoga
and meditation. The site that sent me this information recommended this

[Kundalini Yoga] Kundalini Rising -Dangerous or Safe Path

and what you might be feeling in your spine.

Mental Systems for Awakening the Kundalini

Some systems activate the Kundalini solely through visualization and
breathing techniques. They do not focus on developing the physical body,
the nervous system and the electromagnetic field. The practitioners of
these techniques can experience sudden Kundalini release. When the
techniques used are primarily mental and do not include the physical
preparation and training, the human body and psyche may not be able to
handle the high-voltage energy.It makes sense that if your body is wired
for 100 volts and you receive 1000 or 10,000 volts, there can be
negative physical, mental and emotional reactions.


It is true that people who have not strengthened their nervous system or
prepared their bodies and psyches to hold these higher frequencies have
had problems when their Kundalini spontaneously arose. They like to
write books about it and claim that raising the Kundalini is dangerous.


Yogi Bhajan's Response and Safe Preparation

In response to the statements that Kundalini yoga is dangerous, Yogi
Bhajan said, "The people who talk like this don't know what they are
talking about. They have not practiced Kundalini Yoga as I have taught
it." If they have not personally practiced the technology of Yogi
Bhajan, their comments are not based on their experience of the effects
of this technology.

Negative attitudes can arise out of ignorance, jealousy, or the
ego-based fear of losing control. Those in power do not want others to
be empowered. Those who practice Kundalini Yoga cannot be controlled.
Also some people have fixed opinions about something that they simply
don't know anything about. They, too, need Kundalini yoga so that they
can have an experience of what they are talking about. Kundalini yoga
can change their mental structure and transmute their fear into love.

Kundalini Yoga of Yogi Bhajan offers us a safe, systematic technology to
purify and charge our nervous system, body systems and energy centers
and promote the natural flow of greater voltages of energy as the
Kundalini gradually awakens. This technology is designed to avoid
possible negative effects of spontaneous awakenings, cultivate a smooth
awakening and to prepare our body to experience the in-the-body ecstasy
of consciousness.

It is important to know that as the vibration on the Planet increases,
people will increasingly experience spontaneous Kundalini awakenings.
Thus it is possible for those practicing Kundalini yoga. When we receive
the gift of awakening, our job is to integrate this higher awareness
into our consciousness and daily lives. The ascent must be followed by
the descent to live fulfilling lives. Being present to the feelings in
our body, grounding in our bodies, connecting in nature with the Earth
and standing postures are recommended.

Sat Nam Friends,
I had a woman call me yesterday who is interested in attending my Kundalini Yoga class. One of her health concerns is high blood pressure. I thought any set might be helpful - but wondered if anyone knows of a specific set or meditation to help lower blood pressure. I would welcome and appreciate any suggestions you may have.
