Silent meditation can be wonderful, but sometimes it just is not the thing.
If I were you, I would probably start off with a 12 minuted meditation called kirtan kriya. Try it for 40 days and see if it works for you.
You can expand it up to 31 minutes for an even deeper effect.
It is a little complex, but very nice to bring things into balance.
